One More Cycle: Raising money for Cancer Research UK.

My fabulous fiancé has decided to embark on an epic bike challenge in order to beat the sh*t out of cancer and raise money for Cancer Research UK to help fund research and new treatments for all types of cancer so that hopefully, one day this will be a curable disease for all.

This WAS set to be a 3 day challenge comprising of 3 stages;

Stage 1
Dragon Ride Gran Fondo - Wales
Distance: 211km
Elevation: 3,040m

Stage 2
Manchester 100 Mile - Manchester
Distance: 161km
Elevation: 970m

Stage 3
Fred Whitton Challenge - Lake District
Distance: 183km
Elevation: 3,700m

Now, this is a very ambitious challenge, each of those stages on their own is bloody hard let alone doing all 3 back to back. They’re not going to be able to walk for a week following this. Their poor butts.

It was originally planned for July the 24th 2021 weekend, as at this date I will have only ONE MORE CYCLE of chemotherapy to go through! And it’s a cycling challenge — hence the name. Get it? Very punny….

BUT unfortunately, whilst training to do this he came off his BRAND NEW bike and smashed his collar bone into smithereens, oops!

The bike, you’ll be pleased to hear is A okay. Dan’s collar bone however required surgery. He’s now recovering well post op.

The original challenge has been postponed - this will still go ahead but next year, when he’s completely mended and the metal work has been removed!

So he is now doing an epic 3 day indoor turbo trainer cycling marathon on Zwift. I think it may be harder than the original 3 day challenge…

NEW CHALLENGE - 10th, 11th and 12th of December 2021
So these courses have been chosen (see below) and they will continue to cycle for 8hrs for each stage no matter how many times they finish the route.

It’s not only Dan doing this, but my work partner Shane, my brother-in-law James and some other crazy friends. If you want to join in with the cycle, you can! You can join in for as much or as little as you want. If you want to join them for 30mins - 1 hr on one of the days, that’s great. If you want to join them for the whole shebang, you go for it. You do you.

I won’t be taking part but will be providing moral support and I will be praying for their gooches 🙏 (the bit between your bum and your genitals).
